An engineer by training, Malihe Razazan began her radio career as a producer and co host of "Voices of the Middle East and North Africa" on KPFA Radio in Berkeley in 2002.

In 2004, she switched careers from engineer to full time radio journalist. In 2006, she became a producer at "Your Call," a daily Public Affairs program on San Francisco public Radio Station KALW.

Malihe Razazan is also a long-time activist and community organizer who has been on the organizing committee of the Iranian Women Foundation's annual conference in Berkeley since 2000, including the 2008 conference at the University of California, Berkeley.

 

Khalil Bendib

In real life, Berkeley-based Voices of the Middle East and North Africa cohost Khalil Bendib is an award-winning editorial cartoonist, the only widely syndicated cartoonist in North America who brings an Arab, Muslim and progressive, on-corporate perspective to our media. His cartoons, which have occasionally appeared in large newspapers such as the New York Times and USA Today, are featured in over 1,700 small and mid-size newspapers across the country, including many Arab, Muslim, African-American and publications and web sites, and can be viewed at www.bendib.com.

Born under colonial rule in Algeria during the war of independence against France, Khalil is frequently on the road giving talks and presentations on matters of political cartooning, fine art and the Middle East/North Africa. His books of cartoons include It Became Necessary to Destroy the Planet in Order to Save it (PlanNine,2003,) Mieux Vaut Empire qu’en Pleurer (E-dite, Paris 2005) and Mission Accomplished (Interlink, 2007.)
